10th Annual AUPHA Academic Forum
HIMSS-2015 Annual Conference
Chicago, Ill
inois, April 12 - 16, 2015

The AUPHA Academic Forum will be celebrating its 10th peer reviewed research paper Forum on Sunday April 12, 2015 in Chicago.  AUPHA has been working closely with HIMSS to provide an opportunity for faculty to present current HIT related research and also open the entire conference to all faculty using a discounted registration fee.

HIMSS draws over 98,000+ attendees each year consisting of CIOs, COOs, CEOs, directors of information systems, CMIOs, systems engineers, administrators, educators, and over 1100 vendors.  The intent of the Academic Forum is to encourage practitioners and vendors to observe current research that has a practical application to the world of healthcare information technology.  Over the past ten years, the Academic Forum has attracted a variety of stellar academic papers and has become a respected forum to present application-oriented research.  There is no theme for the session, but the research must be applied and of interest to practitioners, academics, and the broader IT community.  The abstracts selected for presentation will be published in the Journal of Health Administration Education.

Each year, there is an opportunity for local AUPHA programs to sponsor the Academic Forum.  In the past, both Tulane University and the the University of Central Florida have been very supportive sponsors.

A sample of recent presentations includes:

  • Karen Wager, “MHA Students Team Up with Academic Medical Center to Analyze and Improve Workflow Prior to EHR Implementation”
  • Gabriela Mustata, “A Time-Motion Study Before and After Implementation of an Electronic Health Record”
  • Katherine Sandford, “ Assessment of eHIT Use by Kentucky Physicians Pre-and Post-HITECH: Changes, Barriers, and Facilitators of Adoption and Use”
